 500 hour maintenance
« Thread Started on Sept 5, 2009, 8:27am »

I have 500 hours on my Kama 554 and took it to Chip at ARTRAC for maintenance work, only 20 miles away. The tie rod ends were very wobbly and I wanted him to check clutch, valve clearances, replace hoses, change fluids and filters. I will report on the results next week. Any other suggested maintenance that should be done now?

Hello, Ken.

While it's good to check with other folks, I'd ask Chip for his suggestions - he's well respected and knows these machines.

500 hours, seems like you have a nice machine there.

Hey Ken,

I agree with Tom,, also ask Chip,, what he suggests as well.

My Jinma Book say's Retork the HeadBolt's every 500 hour's. So since they are doing the Valve's anyway,, might be a good time.

Don't forget the Fuel Pump Oil Change... ;D If your's has 2 drain Plug's,, make sure they Drain both of them too... :P

After they get through with the Front End,, ask them to Set The "Toe",, so that your Tire's will Wear Even.

Sounds like you are taking good care of your Tractor,, and getting good use out of it. Tell Chip to do it right,, cause you want to get another 500 hour's out of it,,
Joe :)

Got the tractor back from Chip all cleaned up and pretty. He replaced all the filters, fluids, belts and hoses, adjusted the clutch and valve clearances, fixed the loose tie rod ends, removed and replaced broken/loose bolts on FEL, patched the brush hog deck. The damage was $600, not bad in my opinion.
