Great Forum here, but I think I need a higher power to get me started with the basics. I have not joined/been part of a forum before and I must say, there is a BIG lack of instruction for novices such as I...lots of rules/regs, but no real help.
Hope I have'nt offended anyone here?
Following, is my initial contribution, which was rejected as I could not identify any specific group as a target..... I'm new for heaven's sake! Hi all, I'm new to this stuff so pls be patient. I am going to buy a small tractor for my bush block in Gippsland VIC Aust. The Kubota B1400DT with FEL 4Way and TIP Class1 appears perfect for my needs, as I need a really small unit to get between the native trees - we are 10 Acres - heavily timbered. This is NOT a farm or enterprise, just a great get-away from the city, but I need to do a few light chores.
SotaTractors offer a B1400DT Kubota rebuild with all the goodies and I was wondering what the community feedback was, B$ I purchase AUD$14000plus???
Appreciate anything that comes my may. Best regards, Drypatch

Welcome Drypach, to the forum and out of the city..
We really hope to get you comfortable with this forum, and we will help you by and by.. The first thing you have to make up in your mind is, do I want to buy a Chinese tractor, being an owner and then become a member of this forum. For all who wants to consider what tractor to buy there are some other forums, we are a forum for those who have decided. Of course we let you stay for a while (a month or two), but want you to comply with our rules as soon as you can.
We will help you with concrete questions of course, though all this pro et contra Chinese versus Japanese, Korean, Western made, we are not a club for these questions.

Hi Rolfo. Thanks for your welcome and I understand and appreciate your words of wisdom regarding the basis of the forum. From hereon for a while, I'll keep my fingers off the keyboard and just observe.

Hi Drypatch!
I don't know about the price differences between Kubota and the Chinese tractors in Australia, but here in America a new Chinese tractor is many thousands of dollars cheaper than new Kubotas of similar size.
The Chinese Jinma 254 works great for me at my "get-away" from the city. The Chinese tractors are not as refined as the Kubotas but they are a lot of tractor for the money.
You must be a couple of hours from Melbourne. Near mountain ski country maybe? My brother used to live in Prahran, Victoria and worked in Melbourne. I spent some time there visiting my brother and saw some beautiful country!
IF YOU DON'T STAND FOR SOMETHING, YOU'LL FALL FOR ANYTHING.
2005 Jinma 284 LE 435 hours, destroyed by fire 8/25/07 (restoring). 2007 Jinma 254 LE, Prince PTO pump, LITW 7600 BH modified to close mount, attached to modified Jinma BH frame, modified Jinma BH tank with screw-in suction screen, 10 micron return filter, sight glass & temperature gage, hydraulic cooler.

hi Wayne,
Thanks for your response; my sincere apologies for not getting back to you sooner. We (wife & I) have just got back from the property last night after 10 nights away from our three adult (homebound) children - 18 - 21 & 26!!!, and this is the first chance I've had to get "on line" Yeah, we are at the base of the Victorian Alps playground and 2.5 hrs from our home in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Whilst it is a very dry and harsh bush environment where we have our property, we DO love it, if only to escape the dramas of living with our kids for a few nights! I don't know yet about the rules of this forum for general chatting, so I apologise again if I have transgressed. I guess I better talk "Tractor" to maintain cred. No, I don't yet own one but I sure-as-hell will soon! Doing a deal right now on a re-manufactured small-farm Kubota with a 4-way FEL, grader blade and other TIP attachments. Its no spring chicken ('94-'95 build) but all the good bits - 3 pot diesel bores, brakes, txmission/clutch and hydraulics are renewed/replaced, plus new tyres, filters & battery - delivered to the property (160Mile trip/275Km) all for $AUD13,000 - thats about $US10,660 at the current exchange rate. I'll let you know how it all goes, soon. Cheers, Drypatch
